Earlier this week Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes appeared on the SiriusXM radio show Opie Radio. Haynes, who has made a handful of visits to shows hosted by Gregg “Opie” Hughes over the years, included solo performances of two of the more beautiful tunes from Mule’s new LP on Opie Radio.
“Traveling Tune” is a Haynes-penned composition that comes in the long line of songs about life on the road. Warren shows a maturity in his songwriting throughout the pretty ballad. While “Traveling Tune” will be released on Gov’t Mule’s forthcoming Revolution Come … Revolution Go on June 9, the full band debuted the live version in Central Park on Wednesday night.

Another of the more pretty tunes from Revolution Come … Revolution Go is “Dreams & Songs.” Haynes also served up a solo acoustic version of the song on Opie Radio. Just as with “Traveling Tune,” Gov’t Mule delivered the live debut of “Dreams & Songs” at New York City’s SummerStage on Wednesday. “Dreams & Songs” featuring backing vocalists was the evening’s encore.

Rock & roll has always been a reflection of the times, and the new Mule is no exception.
